Ive been searching for and am still Looking for vba to force everyone out of a named (known) mdb.

kick everyone out Gracefully(if possible)
Delete the lock_file if any
Make back copy of the corrupt Backend
Attempt to open and repair the back end Corrupted or not.

I would hopefully run this from a separate stand alone Front end with only one single form with hopefully one or two buttons to achieve the above tasks,
With a built in test to check for error in the execution properly and if not then role back option (at that stage).

So my question is has anyone every came close to creating something similar!

Reason. I am asking is if the BE.mdb gets corrupted and I am not at work to sort.
Then the end users are stuck till i sort it. but if I had the above maybe not.

Sounds like a big ask.

But not sure if it is in reality though..thanks everyone

I just don't wish to reinvent the wheel (or if I do then make it formula one grade).

Any suggestions welcome and Thanks to every one for reading smile.gif

Hi. I think the Code Archive has individual demos for each of those requirements (except for the corruption one - I'm not sure about it), which you can study and put together as one utility.

Just my 2 cents... "And if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know" - Kansas

The most useful methods of dealing with different types of corruption include
1. Compact and repair - cannot be done using code on the currently open database
2. Decompile - requires Access to be run using the /decompile switch
3. Copy all objects into a new blank database.

Realistically all of those need manual intervention at least in part.
That doesn't help you but overall its a good thing as it avoids those users with insufficient knowledge possibly making matters worse
