I'm seaking advice on a third party software that can Parse HL7 messages into Access DB.

Anyone know of anything that can do so?

Hi,

What do you want to parse it for: display purposes or storage in a table?

I'm not aware of anything for VBA/Access, but there's a number of tools around that will do one or the other. Probably in this case I might look into a C# version and wrap it in COM wrapper to call from VBA (simply because a .net version is going to have far better community support than a VBA one).

I recall a thread here from a few months ago on a similar topic, although I don't know the specific dates. If you search here you might turn up a discussion or two with useful information or links.

The idea is that a medical charting device dumps the HL7 file into the folder and a integration engine (The software I'm looking for) grabs that file, reads it and extracts the info I need and places into its corresponding fields/Tables in a Access DB. Plenty of options for a SQL, but Access? not sure. Also most of these are extremely pricey. Like fancy new car pricey.

It may be that you're swimming in those waters, then.

It's an elaborate work around, but have you considered installing a local instance of SQL Server Express to perform the data extraction and write it to a table that you can link to from the main Access accdb. That's assuming you can do it as you suggest from SQL Server....
