I use vPPC to ensure the BE password is not obtainable through the MSysObjects table.

Is it, in any way, possible to edit the MSysObjects linked database field to remove the password information directly (rather than first linking to a 'plain text' BE, identically structured to the encrypted BE, and then replacing the plain text file with the encrypted version) ?

I'm fairly certain the answer is a resounding 'No', but thought I'd ask! smile.gif as it would make the linking process (over a LAN) more robust and means that a plain text BE doesn't need to be maintained in parallel to the encrypted BE file.

While I am not sure you can't edit the MSysObjects table, I'd be surprised if you could.

I'd be very leery of doing so, in any event. Bad juju will surely follow.

Hi George

You can't edit the MSysObjects table directly, I've tried, and I am sure bad juju would follow, but I thought it might be fun trying evilgrin.gif!

Thanks anyway
