Hello,

Has anyone found a way to hide the Feed back option that appears in the File tab in Access 16?

I use this below in the Ribbon to hide other entries but "Feedback" won't work either as a tab or a button Mso

CODE
<backstage>
    <tab idMso="TabInfo" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileSave" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileNewDatabase" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileSaveAs" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="SaveObjectAs" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileSaveAsCurrentFileFormat" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileOpen" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileCloseDatabase" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="Feedback" visible="false"/>
    <tab idMso="TabRecent" visible="false"/>
    <tab idMso="TabNew" visible="false"/>
    <tab idMso="TabPrint" visible="false"/>
    <tab idMso="TabShare" visible="false"/>
    <tab idMso="TabHelp" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="ApplicationOptionsDialog" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileExit" visible="false"/>
</backstage>

It looks like - see links below - its not possible - yet?

My understanding is that it can't be hidden.

I don't think that will remove the "feedback" option or the "Tell Me What you want to do?" option.

I have to apologize. Disabling ribbons except for a custom ribbon does hide both the feedback and the "Tell Me What you want to do?" options.

It's the little question mark for help that remains enabled.

Thank you very much for your replys Ridders.

But I actually use the Ribbon a lot. Above the backstage there is a complete Ribbon xml I have created - I didn't include it for clarity. Apologies if that set you on the wrong track - my attempt at clarity failed :-( !

I do hide the Ribbon before the Users log in in some of my systems.

Many thanks for your reply though; the code will be useful for lots of people I think.

Hi davewd40,

Unfortunately it did not work

Attached File  feedback.JPG ( 9.44K )Number of downloads: 3

The "Tell me..." is still there.

This is the backstage part of the ribbon I am using:

CODE
<backstage>
    <tab idMso="TabInfo" visible="false"/>
    <!-- 14/08/16 -->
    <!-- If the tabinfo is visible user can set ENCYPTION PASSSWORD!!!!!! -->
    <button idMso="FileSave" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileNewDatabase" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileSaveAs" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="SaveObjectAs" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileSaveAsCurrentFileFormat" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileOpen" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileCloseDatabase" visible="false"/>
    <tab idMso="TabRecent" visible="false"/>
    <tab idMso="TabNew" visible="false"/>
    <tab idMso="TabPrint" visible="false"/>
    <tab idMso="TabShare" visible="false"/>
    <tab idMso="TabHelp" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="ApplicationOptionsDialog" visible="false"/>
    <button idMso="FileExit" visible="false"/>
    <tab idMso="TabOfficeFeedback" visible="false"/>
</backstage>

I just added your line of xml to the bottom the rest has been working for a few years now.

I also tried <button idMso="TabOfficeFeedback" visible="false"/> and that also didn't work.

I suppose it is neither a tab nor a button???

Just like the buses, you wait months for a question about the Feedback tab on the File menu to turn up then two arrive the same day.
See this parallel thread at another forum: https://www.access-programmers.co.UK/forums...ad.php?t=303592

Or are you & ryetee the very same person?

Most of the code in the post above can be removed

Attached are 2 examples (2010 7 2016) that I did for that thread

If you want more security than this, remove the ribbon & QAT completely.
You can also remove the application window if you wish
Together with other security measures such as those described in this article on my website, Improve Access Security, you're then as close to making Access as secure as its possible to make it ....but its still NEVER going to be 100% secure.

AFAIK only by removing the entire ribbon and / or removing the application window
The attached screenshots show both methods

The Help question mark can be disabled. visible="false" causes the entire ribbon code to fail. Guessing the app window frame would have to be removed for the icon to go away.

CODE
  <commands>
    <command idMso="Help" enabled="false"/>
  </commands>

Thanks June,

This would not work for me - I have now found that the only thing that would is:

CODE
<ribbon startFromScratch="true">

Are you saying that hides the help ? icon at the upper right corner of app frame?

Hi June,

Ahh, No - it wasn't that I was talking about :-). See my post on 1st Feb and the pic there. That is what I was trying to hide. The "Tell me..." :-)
