Hi Everyone

I have the following Parts List with the following Fields:-

PartNr
Description
QuantityNeededForBuild
StartingStock

All parts are needed to build 1 complete Unit
Is there a way to calculate how many Units I can create from this Stock list?

Any help appreciated

Hi Mike: Looks like you could calculate the max builds integer by part (StartingStock/QuantityNeededForBuild), then take the minimum from the results.

Given the list you posted, the answer is zero (0), since there are not enough units stocked for 2HW1-0017 to build even one complete unit.

Or am I missing something here?

Hi Joe

Well spotted that was a mistake on my part.

I thought I was on the right track and you have confirmed my thoughts.

Many thanks

Maybe I am missing something also, but if all Components are necessary for the build, then just like RJD said, there wouldn't be enough of Part# 2HW1-0017 to even make a single unit.

You are welcome, Mike. Happy to assist.

And here's the demo I quickly built to confirm my analysis, just so we are on the same tack. Probably the same direction you were already taking ...

And looks like ADezii and I were building the same demo ... (great minds, and all that ... cheers.gif ) ...

Regards,
Joe

ADezii: No problem at all! No toe-stepping felt. The more the merrier. Always good to confirm with multiple sets of eyes/brains.

Hi Joe

No this would not be correct.

I will try to explain again.

All of the Parts in the List are required to create 1 Unit.

I was thinking of getting the Total of StockOnHand together with the Total of Stock Required

Then calculating :- TotalStock / TotalStockRequired ?

Sorry, Mike. I am not following your last post. I still see this as an EACH issue. If you sum the stock and requireds across parts, then it would seem you are adding apples and oranges, and negating shortfalls for one part by overages with another part.

If you need EACH part SET to make a unit, why would you not see first how many units a part could contribute to completed units. That is what ADezii and I interpreted this as. And if this is so, then our calculations seem on the right track.

Perhaps if you could shows us a db with the queries you think you need to get the answer you want, ADezii and I could take a look and go from there.

We should be on the same page to assist with this, and it doesn't seem we quite are at this point.
