UtterAccess Forums _ Access Reports _ Extracting From Drop Down Box

Posted by: Alexander Feb 14 2020, 08:55 AM

Just need a little help please getting my head around the following....

I can extract all the results for a race and show position, name, club and speed.

We now have 14 clubs and I wondered how to extract the individual results for each club for a race.

I can do it manually for all 14 clubs (currently have 14 queries and 14 reports) but would like to know how it is possible to select a club from a drop down box and then just print the selected club from 1 query and 1 report.

Any help appreciated.

Yes, this is pretty common, in fact.

If your reports (and their corresponding queries) are otherwise identical, you can use ONE report with ONE parameterized query instead.

The WHERE clause in this query would refer to the control on the form from which you launch the report, something like this, but using your own object names.

"... WHERE RaceID = Forms!frmYourFormNameGoesHere.cboSelectOneRaceID "

Thanks George yes the query and reports are identical except I have hard coded in the club name to the query and reports.(Bad practice I know but it does work but wanted a better and safer solution)

Yes .. I can see that method and as well as selecting only the required Club I can also use the Club name for the header of the report.

Many thanks
