Hi all, I hope everyone's staying healthy and sane of mind through these interesting times.

A while back I posted about some planned updates to UA, and wanted to recap on that. We had planned to have a beta release of the v4 software by the end of Q1 this year. Of course, March and April brought some unexpected challenges for many people, and our timeline for this project suffered a bit due to it.

As of now, testing and refinement of the new software is picking back up, and we'll shortly be inviting people that want to help with beta testing in a closed environment. I don't currently have a target release date in mind, but expect that it will be some time in June.

Stay safe and be well.

Maybe you could consider sharing a backlog so that people can see and comment on features. Perhaps you could even open-source the code. Just a suggestion.

Hi - we do plan to open a feature/voting mechanism for new work once the initial release settles in. For open source, the thought has crossed my mind, but if it does happen it's not likely to be too soon as there's some preliminaries I'd want to get out of the way first.

Hi all, wanted to give an update on this:

We've released a staging environment to VIPs and a few others to play around with. We have a few final updates planned for next week and will be looking at a public beta the following. Barring no major issues on a public beta, we'll make the switch shortly after.

Cheers,

Can you post some screenshots of the new UI?

Jack, thanks for the preview - it looks great! i've been happy enough with the forums we have - i'm not exposed to enough websites to have any issues with it, i guess. ;) but i appreciate the hard work of everyone involved, and i'm really looking forward to using the new setup. thank you all! :) tina

Very nice, thanks Jack.. The UI looks easy enough to transition to.

Thanks tina and Frank. We tried to at least keep the main day-to-day visual elements around the same layout/space, and it worked out well (but, it's forum software, and like tina mentions, there's nothing particularly wrong with the current v3: this is more about ease of ongoing maintenance and new feature development).

I expect there'll be some quirks (and a few bugs) to work out, but overall I'm very happy with the software's development: everything has come together well, it sits on a very solid foundation and is geared to extensibility. If I had to do it all over, there'd be relatively little that I'd change, and that's always a good sign.

Cheers,
