UtterAccess Forums _ Local Access User Groups (AUGs) _ Netherlands Access Developer Day

Posted by: danpol Sep 25 2018, 04:51 AM

The first Netherlands Access Developer Day will take place on Wednesday 10 October 2018 in Aalsmeer (near Amsterdam) in the Netherlands.

There will be several presentations by developers for developers.

The keynote speaker is Michal Bar, she is a senior program manager in Microsoft and the product lead and champion for Access since 2014.
Her talk will be about new features that are part of Access in Office 365 and the features that are on the roadmap.
She’ll demo the new modern charts in Access.

Some of the topics covered by other presenters will be integration of Access with web services and combining Access with PowerApps.

Most presentations will be in English.

The Developer Day is not just about listening to presentations, it is also about meeting other Access developers.
Lunch and a boat trip are good opportunities for that!

This is a great idea!

I would like to organize something similar in my area and would be interested in how you structured your event, how many participants would be optimal, etc.

Please post a follow-up about how it went.

I will post something soon but am still rather busy with wrapping up the event.
Lots of e-mails to answer and have to get audio and video edited and will then put the presentations online.

Once that is done I will post more about the event here.

My reply in this other AUG may be relevant to your event as well

The event went very well.

We had about 35 attendees and 6 presentations spread out over a full day.
Two of the presenters are Access MVP's in America and they did their presentations over a video link.

Even though it took place in the Netherlands I decided to do the whole event in English (for the benefit of Michal Bar and of the wider Access community).

It was much more work to organise it than I had initially realised. It took between one and two weeks of my time and other people helped a bit too.
Because I organised it at short notice I spent a lot of time finding developers and convincing them to come. That will now be easier in the future.

Very rewarding to do this so much so that I'll organise the same event in 2019.

You can find a recap of this year's event with some videos and presentations here:
