UtterAccess Forums _ Software Architecture _ Architecture Documentation With C4?

Posted by: jleach Jan 11 2020, 07:03 AM

Hi all - curious if anyone has used the C4 model for architecture documentation before.

We're considering adopting it but would be interested if anyone has any experience and a feel for pros/cons.

I have used CASE workbench tools in a development team environment for Informix-4GL projects.

We're considering adopting it

For UAv4?

If your goal is to rollout v4 by end of 2020-Q2, my opinion is to use traditional design and development tools in an agile development approach, versus having to learn and adapt to C4's abstraction-first approach and different terminology.

Not for UA specifically, just in general within my development firm. C4 is just an architecture documentation method (there's a few tools for realizing it as well), not a programming platform.

Understood. Speaking of UAv4, I dont see an 'About' button for the current UA website. From looking at UA's page source, it looks like its written with php. Is the plan to build on top of existing code, re-write the php using a framework like Symphony, migrate to DotNet or WordPress?
