UtterAccess Forums _ Graphics _ Pdf To Image

Posted by: cmohanc Jan 10 2017, 11:22 AM

Hi ,
I am working on a project to display engineering drawings on a webpage. the user has drawings in PDF format.

I need a PDF to image converter , that can be called from VBA . the user will select the PDF and the code will convert it to an image and save it into a folder.

The image path will be stored in access table and will be shown in web browser , using webbrowser control.

Thank you for suggestions.

I believe you can do this with Acrobat Pro, but you'd need to do some digging. Here see: https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28450877/VBA-Code-Open-PDF-File-and-save-as-a-jpg-file.html

I've also seen it done through PowerPoint automation, see: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_other-msoffice_custom/convert-pdf-to-image-using-VBA-macro/22d57999-3320-4f45-9c1f-0e045b3654ee for one example.

Are these PDFs a single page or can they have multiple pages?

Hi DanielPineault ,

Thanks for suggestion.
Adobe acrobat should be present in every system where the use will upload the PDF File ? Have to think on this.

Is there any print to image solution ?

The PDF file is a single page file.

Having worked for years in Engineering, I have to ask why not get the images created directly from the CAD software or from your suppliers, ...? Just a thought. In many cases, even this can be automated.

Hi DanielPineault,
Nice to talk to some one from same field. As you know , the customers send mostly PDFs and few Tiffs.
This is because it is just a part drawing in a A4 format.

This application is to store drawings in a folder after approved by 3 persons.
I have a web application that displays the drawing in an android tablet, based on the selected Part Number.
The same page contains may controls for collecting data from user.I don't want to open a separate page for drawings.

This is a part of a larger Access application for quality Control .

The problem is
1. I wont get CAD drawing.
2.How to display CAD drawing in web browser?
