Hi, there.
Does anyone know how to prevent users from logging into ICQ program which is using port 5190? As far as security is concerned, i need to stop ICQ.

as far as i know how you can stop icq as it doesnt only use just that port but a range of ports,
That kind of network platform ?
are u using a fire wall and if so is it hardwired or software ?
maybe you can configre your fire wall
just some ideas
what about msm (microsoft instant messanger) and other such programs ?

UK pal, Thanks. The PCs that i want to block are win98 and they are connected to server NT server4 which is attached with Router Dlink 704P.
Besides the ICQ, i still need to block MSN messenger as well if applicable.
ls give me more ideas if u know....

you wil need to buy a fire wall perhaps and configure that to block transmissions to those ports
