We have an odd problem sharing the back end db over a network. 3 of 4 work stations work fine, but when the fourth connects the others cannot connect, it throws messages about read only and tables cannot be opened in the network back end db. The client settings are set to open in shared mode. Is the a vb command to ensure the db is opened in shared mode?

Hi,

First question for you is, is your database properly spit? That is, does each user have his or her own copy of the front end on their local hard drive?

Yes, each user has their own front end dB with the links to the network back end dB. I will check the read/write create and delete permissions to make sure they are all true for the laccdb file.

Did this get resolved? FWIW, I've seen this happen with computers running a Windows Home edition, which has limited network privileges
