UtterAccess Forums _ Access Automation _ Using Excel To Edit Access Data?

Posted by: dsabol2000 Oct 16 2019, 11:04 AM

I have users without Access licenses so I'm trying to build an Excel front end that they can use easily to edit/enter data into an Access table. I already have the table built and I can see it in Excel but if I enter anything into it, or change data it doesn't track back to Access. Is this something that is more involved than just accessing the data using the data connections menu in Excel? I've seen some complicated VBA stuff but it was outdated and I couldn't figure it out.

How did you connect to the Access table from Excel?

I know it's not possible to directly edit Excel data from MS Access.

I don't think you can directly edit Access data from Excel.

I think you can write VBA and update the Access tables via ADO. However, there will be a learning curve, no doubt about it. On the other hand, if you plan to use MS Office applications long-term, it might be worthwhile to invest the effort and time to learn.

Have you considered giving users an Access FE that they can use with the https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39358?
