iconfused.gif Database is 2010, Outlook is 2016. This has been working for months, suddenly crashing. Environment is a 2018R2 Server that users RDP into.

Process: User previews report in Access 2010, Outlook 2016 is already loaded. User tries to either use the Ribbon button to Email -or- right click preview and Send To (email as attachment). In either scenario, PDF is selected in the Send Object As. Once that is clicked, Access crashes, no change to Outlook.

Crash: Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: MSACCESS.EXE
Application Version: 14.0.7195.5000
Application Timestamp: 5a881a6a
Fault Module Name: mso.dll
Fault Module Version: 14.0.7224.5000
Fault Module Timestamp: 5bcb804f
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 005209e4
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.16.7
Locale ID: 1033

So far I have:
- Restarted Server
- Repaired both Office 2016 and 2010 on the server
- Decompiled/Recompiled/Compacted and Repaired (I do this anyway regularly)

Nothing has changed on the server.
Very minor changes to a couple forms before the error started, no VBA code involved.

Hi Ernie
Sorry I cannot help but will watch to see if someone has an answer.
I have the same problem at one of my customers sites, on only one of his five computers.
I can resend the same email with the same invoice attached as both a PDF and a CSV file several times in a row but at some point access will shut down without creating an error report.
Open it back up and it can start sending the invoice again without error.
This has been an ongoing problem on that computer for months and yet is not happening on any other customers computers.
We are currently thinking of buying a new computer as it may be a hardware issue.

Kind regards
Peter Leighton

Thanks for chiming in, what permissions would I need to check for sending an email? The entirety of the database is working perfectly, just no for sending report to PDF in Email through Outlook.

check the folder that the pdf is being created in, if my documents etc make sure they are set correctly. we ended up giving permission to everyone and had no issues until the next big update and this is on rdp machines. change the folder your data is coming from too, not saying this is the issue but is first thing I have my staff checking and more than half the time that is the issues, especially if nothing else has changed.

we setup our own emailing system from access so we don't have to worry about 3rd party software, made a form as you can see and run code like below just have to know all your smpt info.

Dim objCDOMail As Object
Set objCDOMail = CreateObject("CDO.Message")
objCDOMail.to = toEmail

objCDOMail.from = fromEmail
'objCDOMail.CC = ifaCC
'objCDOMail.BCC = ifaBCC
objCDOMail.Subject = "subject text"
'objCDOMail.HTMLBody = "Body HTML"
objCDOMail.textBody = "Body Plain Text"
objCDOMail.AddAttachment rs.Fields "Attachment string/path goes here, no = sign before the Attachment" 'exp; objCDOMail.AddAttachment rs.Fields "C:\test.test.txt"

objCDOMail.configuration.Fields.Item("http://schemas.microsoft.com/CDO/configuration/sendusing") = 2
objCDOMail.configuration.Fields.Item("http://schemas.microsoft.com/CDO/configuration/smtpserver") = [smptserver]
objCDOMail.configuration.Fields.Item("http://schemas.microsoft.com/CDO/configuration/smtpauthenticate") = [AuthenticationMethod]
objCDOMail.configuration.Fields.Item("http://schemas.microsoft.com/CDO/configuration/sendusername") = [UserName]
objCDOMail.configuration.Fields.Item("http://schemas.microsoft.com/CDO/configuration/sendpassword") = [Password]
objCDOMail.configuration.Fields.Item("http://schemas.microsoft.com/CDO/configuration/smtpserverport") = [Port]
objCDOMail.configuration.Fields.Item("http://schemas.microsoft.com/CDO/configuration/smtpusessl") = [SSL]

objCDOMail.configuration.Fields.update 'Always run update to set your config

objCDOMail.send

Set objCDOMail = Nothing

Nice form! I'm not following the permissions yet, when we run a report, right click, Send to Email recipient, the selection dialog comes up (attached). Don't know where it is being created (folder-wise).

sorry I thought you were creating the pdf using code I don't ever do it that way so not sure, I would just reinstall or trying fixing the offices and access if different may be that simple.

Thanks, I already did the repairs on the RDS for Office, can't uninstall and reinstall at the moment. It's their crunch time for taxes. Anyone have any other ideas?
