I have a simple text box on my continuous form with its Control Source set to =Count(*). It returns the correct count of visible rows, but when there are more than ithe 15 visible, it returns 0.

Clearly I am being stupid, but please can someone put me out of my misery.

Where is the textbox located?

I cannot replicate this issue.

Hi

The continuous form is a subform and the textbox is in the body. I have tried in the header and footer, with the same result.

??

Still can't replicate. Perhaps you should provide your db for analysis.

One approach, I think, is to put the count in the subform footer. Then put a textbox that references that on the main form.

Thanks for the suggestion, but same problem.

When I look at the contents of the textbox on the main form in Immediate, anything up to 15 records is correct, any over the 15 visible shows Null.

Weird!

It does occur to me that it could be a bug in Access 2016/19. It worked fine in A2007, but I had to port everything to Office 2019 and have had real fun getting everything to work. I have found a couple of other problems which MS have not yet addressed.

June, thanks for your suggestion but I have been developing this beast for 10 years and I don't think anybody would appreciate my submitting all 1.4GB of it for analysis.

I am confused. Now you say textbox is on main form?

You would have to export just objects of interest to a new database. Or make a copy of full db and delete records.

Maybe it is 2016 bug, I am still working with 2010 so might not be able to help anyway.

1.4GB - are you going to get another 10 years life out of it?

Hi June.

The textbox is in the footer of the subform, but I followed the advice of projecttoday and linked a textbox on the main form. Either way the results are the same from both textboxes.

That technique is really only useful if subform is in Datasheet view.

So, I would expect the same result in the main form textbox.

1.3GB is the BE, which I can split when necessary. It's still more than fast enough for my purposes. I just couldn't find exactly what I wanted commercially for my 12,000 CDs!

Rather large file for only 12,000 CDs. Are you embedding images?

Only thumbnails. Nothing over 50k. Anything large is linked.

It's all classical music, so my database has full information about artists, composers, works and C

If it works fine in 2007 then my suggestion was not such a good idea.

You need to post a mock-up.

12k entries of this? Send me a copy!!

(I'm not jumping in the "fixit" portion - enough hands in there already, just wanted to point out that it sounds like an impressive collection - I love classical but am generally uncultured as to specifics)

So far I have entered just over 8.000 discs. Here is the basic info page, to give you a taster.

Yes, it is on the Form footer. Still no joy!
